About Odd-Steinar's Viking Saga

For å lese på NORSK!! Norsk skrift er i rødt. Se lengere ned.

Unfortunatly this website does not support the Norwegian letters Æ Ø or Å at the beginning of surnames so I have had to convert the names beginning with Ø to O and the names beginning with Å to Aa. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause when searching for names.
At some time or other we all wonder where we came from and I have made this site to help me document my ancestors. My ancestors came from Norway, the land of the midnight sun and Vikings. Hence the name 'Viking Saga'. If you are also looking for your roots, you will find links here that may be useful in your search. If you have any information on my ancestors or you notice any mistakes, please do not hesitate to contact me. I would like to state here that not all persons on this webpager are related to me but may be related to someone who is related to me through marriage. I dedicate this Web site to my mother, Oddbjørg Oline Dybvad, who died on 28 January 1995. A special tribute to my Great Grandmother, Benjamine Kristine Olsdatter, who, because of her poverty and hardships was a great economist. For Christmas presents she would knit mittens with two thumbs. This was so that when you rowed a boat and wore out the palm of the mitten you could turn it over and you would have another mitten with a new thumb and palm. Bless her soul. I would like to thank all persons who have helped me make this Web site possible. If any family member has a photo or anything else they wish to add to this site please contact myself. My name is Odd-Steinar Dybvad Raneng and I was born on the 15th April 1946 in Stjørdal Norway. I left Norway with my father for Australia at the age of eight. In 1957 I returned home for a three months visit to family and friends. Through misfortune I eventually lost all contact with Norway. In October 1999 I was surfing the web when I came upon a web page from a sports club from my home town Stjørdal. I wrote a small message in the guestbook asking for help in tracing my family. I shortly received a reply from Jon Eivind Schefte who was able to trace all my family that was still alive. Through him I have been able to contact my closest relatives, who by the way, had been searching for me for many years. Since then Jon Eivind and I have become great friends through the internet. Thank you Jon Eivind for all your help. So I say to all those people out there who may be looking for lost family and freinds, there is always help out there even when all seems lost.
For julepresanger strikket hun votter med to tommeltotter. Takk Jon Eivind for all din hjelp. Aldri gi opp! Copyright Odd-Steinars Viking-Saga © 2007.
